Quartz counter top is an artificial material and is becoming more and more popular these years for its high strength and durability. However, even if they are harder to get damaged, you still need to know how to clean and maintain correctly if you want to use them as long as possible. Here are some tips for quartz counter top cleaning and maintenance.

 

Daily Work Cleaning Routinely

Wipe quartz countertop with soft cloth and mild detergent. Clean the countertop with soap and warm water every time after you use it if possible.

It is also to be expected counter top will get grease stains, in that case, warm water ad soft cloth will become useless. Degreasing cleaner will be useful when you are facing this issue. But all the cleaning agent for quartz counter top should be formulated to your counter top. If you have no idea of a specific cleaning agent is safe to use on your counter top, you could check with the supplier.

 

Prevent Potential Damage

Wipe out spills as soon as possible. Quartz counter top could resist stains for a while, but if you leave the spills for too long, they will begin to permeate through quartz surface. Clean up spills immediately with water and mild detergent. Liquid like wine, coffee and tea will permanently damage and stain your counter top.

Prevent your counter top from high temperature. Use trivets or mats below hot pans, dishes, crock pots and electric skillets. Although quartz can resist temperature up to 150 ℃, a thermal shock or quick temperature change could leave crackles one your counter tops. It may appear on counter top after contact with hot stuff.

Do not cut veges or meat with knives directly on quartz counter top. Use a cutting boar to avoid sharp knives. Although quartz is one of the most hardest counter top material and has a high scratch resistant, sharp knives are still harmful to them.

Harsh cleaner are also harm to quartz counter top as well as high acidic and alkaline cleaners. If you spill those cleaners on your top, wipe it with water immediately with mild detergent then flush with water.
